Barney is a young pup who has the best of two wonderful breeds. He has the longer body like a Bassett Hound. He also has a deeper bay and bark that the Bassett has verses that of the Beagle. The legs are longer than a Bassett so there is less stress on the back and he can get around to a larger number of places that may be restrictive for the Bassett. His head and face appear more Beagle.

No matter what, he is very sweet and likes everybody, men and women and children, and other dogs, and will probably do well with cats.

His date of birth is estimated at July 2, 2011. He weighs in the 35 pound range. At ten months old he may fill out a little, but shouldn't get much bigger.

He was picked up south of Richmond and has been in animal control for approximately four weeks. He used his doggy door to go outside his run for potty breaks.

He just came into rescue with us May 2. He is doing awesome, very friendly and playful. We use crate training for teaching and for house training and he is taking everything in stride and hasn't missed a beat. Just a very smart little guy.

He is already fully vetted and on heartworm and flea/tick preventative.
