Coco Chanel did have her leg amputated and healed beautifully. She stayed with us until she was completely healed and had her sutures out. Then she went to a new foster home and never left and we finalized her adoption the end of 2013. We thank everyone for their prayers and support for this special little girl. This was a difficult decision to have the leg removed but it had to happen and she has moved on like nothing ever happened.

Update October 2, 2013: We still need to raise $250 to cover the amputation for Coco Chanel. We have scheduled her surgery for Tuesday, October 8, 2013.

She is the sweetest soul ever and loves to play with other dogs. She still needs to warm up to people, but only to know she is safe and then you will be her friend.

Updated August 16, 2013:

Coco Chanel was only 11 months old when she was hit by a car and then surrendered to animal control. Her left front leg was injured and her right ear was bleeding. This was March 29, 2013 when she was injured.

She is in foster care with us and doing well. She has had her vaccinations done. She has been spayed. She was also micro chipped. We have had a complete examination and x-rays done and her leg will not get better.

Her left front leg needs to be amputated. We need to raise the funds to have this done and allow her to heal and then she is ready to go to the wonderful family she deserves. Her right eye also has tears run down her cheek fairly regularly. She has some paralysis over the right eye so she does not blink and this causes the tears to run down the cheek. This is not causing her any issues. This may correct or get better over time. Otherwise she may require some artificial tears or eye drops as she gets older.

She likes women, men, dogs, and would probably do well with cats as many of them will be bigger than her. She has not been around children. We think a home with children 8 and older who are experienced with dogs may be considered.

She gets along on her healthy 3 lege now and is faster than any of the dogs she plays with. Her best friend is Dash, a miniature Dachshund.

Coco Chanel is a wonderful soul and will add so much love and laughter to any family. She really needs a canine brother or sister at least and hey a big family will work too.
